You as a parent might have a hard time following these rules too. We all like our soda, tea, and coffee. Kids usually do what we do, so if they see us drinking more water than soda, they might, too. You can also try using frozen fruit instead of ice cubes in their water.
You can try to add lemon or berries to their water. Some kids may like flavored water better than regular water. You can also go and find them a cup that they will like a lot and put water in them, let them have their special cup.
Maybe talk to them about how important the water is for their body. You can set rewards to try and get them to drink more water. Maybe reward them with a sticker, tell them once they get so many stickers, then they can get a better surprise. Don't have to make it something real big, just make it something they will enjoy.
